Zimbabwe in Devon Camp 5

3rd - 9th July 2007

A long weekend of Mbira playing, singing Shona songs and dancing with Chartwell Dutiro. More than just a few days of intensive Zimbabwean culture. This will be an experience!

Coombe farm is set in a peaceful Devonshire valley. Much of the land is embryonic wilderness. The camp will be fully catered for with vegetarian, vegan and Zimbabwean food.

The will be strictly limited places so you are advised to book your place early. Cost of the camp £150 deposit of £30 per person.

You will need to bring a tent and camping equipment.

Friday:
All day workshop Madirativhange - Evening performance

Saturday:
10pm - 7am Pungwe - All night performance

Sunday:
10pm Mharadzo - Farewell evening performance

Gwenyambira Chartwell grew up in Zimbabwe. He has toured the world performing, teaching mbira and song. One of his greatest skills is bringing people together in music and spirit.

This weekend will be an opportunity to learn from these unique skills, build bridges between cultures and immerse yourself in the music and spirit of Zimbabwe.
